I've been working with Michael for about 2 years. We started as I was getting ready for my first FIDE rated tournament (Reykjavik Open). He helped me build a sophisticated anti-1d4 repertoire with Black based on the Modern Benoni. We had a practical response for virtually every line. While the repertoire was extensive, it was exactly the right depth where I could remember almost all of it. The repertoire was also not all lines but also explanations on what ideas Michael had considered from his own experience and why he ended up rejecting some lines and picking others. It was highly grounded in his own experience as a player.

I enjoyed working with Michael so much that we dedicated a whole next year to endgames - both theoretical and practical. Michael is a very strong endgame player and an excellent coach. He approaches every lesson with a ton of enthusiasm and prepares instructive and engaging examples and problems to solve.

He also has loads of advice on chess psychology and tournament play. Lessons you won't find in a book: when to offer a draw / how to manage your energy during the tournament / how to approach a game when playing up or down ... and many others. I would highly recommend working with him. I will be continuing to do so.

Had a consultation call with Michael and the value I got out of it was well worth the £5! Michael was well-prepared, enthusiastic and tailored his advice specifically to my situation. I can tell he's an excellent coach. Would highly recommend having a call.

I have been a student of Jamie's for around two years now, and I have been playing chess for around three years, starting at ~27 years old. Thanks to Jamie I have recently reached 1800 rating classical on Lichess (and peaked at 1781 Rapid). This is including several months-long breaks from chess.

I cannot fault Jamie's approach and attitude to his lessons, nor his investment in my success whether it's a random online Rapid game, or an OTB tournament game. He is able to break down concepts into digestible information really well, and is incredibly versatile and knowledgeable across all stages of the game.

I am also very grateful for the resources he creates for me so that while the lesson may end, the learning doesn't have to. The depth and detail is tailored to me, and evolves with me too. While he has his preferences for his own openings, he has always taken the time to find an opening that works for me. He teaches you to be your own player, rather than expecting you to just follow the same approach and growth he did.

I cannot praise Jamie enough, and I can't wait to see how far my chess journey can go. Same for his, for that matter! Highly recommend.

Ben has been a fantastic coach. After taking lessons for a few months now he's gotten to know my playstyle and has greatly helped in analyzing my games against stronger players as well as improving my opening preparation. Would definitely recommend.

Ben is an excellent coach. I’ve been having sessions with him for a few months now and I’ve seen a marked improvement in my play. He is excellent at customising your sessions based on your strengths and weaknesses, and he’s very good with responding to questions outside of scheduled time. Absolutely would recommend!
